challenging norms, defying tradition

as of late there's been what seems like a ton of events happening around me, most of which have taken control of this blog. so i figured today i'd take some time to focus in and share about me.

second semister to put it lightly will be a challenge. i got back from mexico and realized that i had 3 weeks to read 5 books (besides my texts) and that all of my classes have some sort of essay assignments in them (even second year science!!). i understand the work of university however i'm not very skilled at essay writing so this is all a slight panic.

this month has been full of some of my greatest lessons. i had the most humbling experience the other day as i had to go upstairs in my appartment building and ask my friend (a male) to open up a jar for me!!! eek, worst thing ever but he was really good about it. it opened my eyes to realize how many men it actually takes to support me... i know the recognition that i need men is tough... :S i need jason to start my car, merrill to go to weddings with, nathan to open jars, my dad to fix my car and well be my dad, various guys as friends to help me decode the male gender, and to generally make me laugh and not take life so seriously!! oh and a special one to take my heart (ya that position has not been filled)
so after going over this list i began to wonder what, if any uses do these guys have for us, seriously i have far too many uses for males in my life. the answer came to me simply through discussions with guys about many other things... and the concessions without women guys are lonely. weird hey? but it seems that males need women...i'm sure not to feel (as in emotions), but almost to express their feeligs and deal with them. in hangin out with a group of guys one once mentioned how bad it would be if he were to journal, and it was almost as if he was held captive from this by his notions of "true masculinity". another thing i noticed is their desired to be cared for almost mothered, strange as that sounds. it is as if they look to females to be their moral rod; the ones to set the line of good and bad. i could go on but details could be trouble and i think the point is made. we need each other...

my other lesson comes is summed up in by the paraphasing of a commone verse, which is more a slogan now: everything may be permissable, but not everything is benefical. i think that's fairly straight forward. morals and life "rules" are so relitive to ppl and place. yep i've crossed over to postmodernism

that's it for now... hopefully next time things will be a little less vague and more compact!!
